About The BKG
The Beneficial Knowledge Group (The BKG) is a Massachusetts-based consulting, training, and staffing firm that strengthens the systems, controls, and teams organizations rely on to deliver their mission. We serve government agencies, NGOs, universities, medical and research centers, and private companies in the US and internationally, including French speaking countries.

The Role
The Operations Senior Consultant leads the operations and logistics component of each BKG engagement. The role covers asset and commodity management, fleet, security, logistics, and supply chain, and the full range of The BKG’s operations services: operational strategy, operations structures, operational change, operational projects, logistics processes, operational and security risk, operational performance, and controls, compliance, and manuals.

Working alongside the Engagement Lead and, depending on the size and complexity of the scope, a small team, you will deliver sound advisory, assessment, and evaluation work in tandem with the other functional teams. You will provide the Engagement Lead with clear and concise findings, recommendations, and implementation guidelines for the final report. Findings are presented to the client by The BKG CEO or leadership and the Engagement Lead, and you may contribute to findings meetings.

Not every engagement is a review: you may also lead the operations activities of advisory engagements that help clients redesign, reconfigure, or transition to a new organizational model.

Key Responsibilities

Consulting role
• Lead the operations and logistics component across The BKG’s consulting services, focusing on operations and logistics while supporting the wider engagement team and The BKG mission
• Assess the client’s operations and logistics function, including structures, logistics, fleet, assets, security, and support services, and identify strengths, gaps, and priorities
• Review the soundness of operational policies, procedures, controls, registers, and records, and set the review approach for the Operations Consultant and Operations Officer
• Advise the client on operational strategy, structure, security risk management, business continuity, and ERP, asset, fleet, and inventory systems
• Help the client implement approved improvements, such as revised logistics procedures, asset and fleet controls, security plans, and tracking tools, by overseeing and advising client staff

Transformation and advisory engagements
• Lead the operations activities of engagements that help clients restructure, merge, decentralize, or adopt new operating models
• Design the future operations and logistics model, transition roadmap, and sequencing, and guide leaders and staff through the change

Strategic and organizational advisory
• Support operational strategy and planning so that logistics, fleet, security, and support functions enable the client’s strategic plan

Project, process, risk, and performance
• Plan and manage operational projects, including startup and closeout of offices and programs, relocations, and asset transfers
• Map logistics, warehousing, fleet, and administrative processes, and recommend streamlined procedures
• Identify and assess operational and security risks, including duty of care and business continuity, in line with US transportation and workplace safety rules, ISO 31030, and national customs, transport, and labor codes

Specialized assessments
• Assess internal controls over assets, inventory, fleet, and warehouses, including registers, physical verification, and disposal
• Review the compliance of customs, transport, and asset management practices with funder rules and national law in the countries of operation
• Develop or update logistics, fleet, asset management, security, and administration manuals and SOPs, when included in the engagement

Coordination, reporting, and implementation guidance
• Plan the operations work with the Engagement Lead and CPA Expert, including objectives, methodology, timeline, and division of work among consultants
• Provide the Engagement Lead with clear and concise findings, risk ratings, and recommendations, subject to sign-off by The BKG CEO
• Develop practical, prioritized, and time-bound implementation guidelines, and when required, oversee and advise client staff on implementation; client staff remain responsible for carrying out the work
• When engaged for this purpose, advise The BKG on operations matters and contribute to proposals, client scoping, and the development of operations and logistics advisory services

Key Deliverables
• Operations work plan agreed with the Engagement Lead
• Clear and concise operations and logistics findings and recommendations for the final report
• Operations and logistics implementation guidelines
• Strategies, plans, manuals, or SOPs, when included in the engagement
• Contribution to findings meetings and implementation oversight notes, when applicable

Service Standards
• A thorough, well-informed, and evidence-based process on every assignment
• Irreproachable professionalism, integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality

• Consultants arrange their own health coverage (including medical evacuation), travel insurance, and general and professional liability insurance, and handle their own taxes and statutory obligations.
